So much has happened since I last posted. Kathy has been working so hard these last few weeks between work, Julia, and Church - she hasn't had a chance to sit down. 3 weeks ago, Kath made enough Spanish Rice (Grandma Ortiz's recipe) for church dinner for 45 people! Two weeks ago we had a cookout with the families of the women in her bible study class. Finally, last week she made 14 loaves of pumpkin bread to sell at the Pumpkin Patch! She spent the entire day with Julia at a friend's house baking bread. Kathy was also very excited to buy Julia's first Halloween costume and to have both been little pumpkins!
I managed to help the church too. I helped to unload the first semi-truck full of pumpkins for the patch. Unfortunately, I won't be able to help with the next one as I will be in Guatemala tomorrow but the local boy scouts and football teams will be there to help again. I also passed the written portion of my Airline Transport Pilot license. Now all I am eligible to be upgraded to Captain. There are some rumors of current captains leaving so I am hoping my chance will come soon.
Julia has been growing and growing. We weighed her two days ago and she was 14lbs 11.5oz! I can't believe how big she has gotten. Kathy and I miss our tiny baby already. She is so close to rolling over - she turns about 75% of the way, gets stuck on her arm, and flops back to her back. We think it will happen any day now. She's getting stronger and stronger too. She's been grabbing at everything within her reach - hair, necklaces, phones, and clothing. She enjoys Skyping and talking on the phone when her mommy does. She also loves reading books. She loves to stare at the pictures - especially of faces. Her favorite book currently is 'Grandpa Loves Me' from Grandpa Low (There are grandpas that look just like Grandpa Low and Grandpa Ortiz).
Dagny still hasn't learned that Jem doesn't really want to play with her so she tries anyways. And Jem is enjoying her retirement here in Florida. Even though there hasn't been a gecko in the house in a few weeks she still sits by the door waiting for one.
Miss you all and hope to see you soon.
